An Ode to Summer Love

Heat, light, and warmth

It's all I feel with you

This love formed

and I felt transformed

Longer days and shorter nights

At Downing Park, we flew kites

Took your hand in mine

We snuck into dad’s cabinet for a sneaky glass of wine

Laying here with the sun on my face

I feel the blades of grass

cloth of lace

we turn and wait for the sands hourglass

This summer has no end

like circles around the bend

I cannot wait another year

to be with the one that I hold dear
