Together, this work explores contemporary social, cultural, and personal issues through comedy, satire, fantasy, and drama. The play offers a unique perspective while reflecting the company's commitment to producing theater that is entertaining, thought-provoking, and rooted in today's world.
Unlike a traditional theater festival, Out of the Box emphasizes script development. Throughout the summer, playwrights, directors, actors, and designers collaborate to refine each script before it’s fully staged premiere. On Saturday, August 29, The Ellis transforms into an immersive celebration of music, fashion, movement, and community as Fashion Aerial Disco brings together some of the Hudson Valley's most exciting artists, performers, designers, and creators for one unforgettable night.
Set inside one of the region's most unique venues, guests will experience a living runway where local fashion meets world-class dance music, aerial performance, art, and food. Every room is designed to surprise, inspire, and keep you moving until the final song of the summer.
Headlining the evening is Eli Soulclap (DJ E-Cology), an internationally recognized DJ, producer, record collector, and co-founder of Soul Clap. Known for blending house, disco, funk, soul, and deep grooves, Eli brings decades of dance floor experience to create the soundtrack for a night that celebrates creativity and connection.
Fashion Aerial Disco is built to showcase the incredible talent already thriving throughout the Hudson Valley.

The Ellis is hosting Newburgh's first Big Night of Comedy, headlined by Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You, Coming 2 America, Only Murders in the Building).
Joining him are four working stand-ups from the NYC scene: Soo Ra, Paul Julmeus, Brett Hiker, Dezhawn France, and Nick Mitchell. This is the kind of lineup you'd normally drive two hours and pay city prices to see. Tonight it's happening in your own backyard.

Boojum with What? Live at The Ellis
Boojum
Boojum is an art band from Brooklyn. Blending elements of funk and EDM with drama, dance and performance art, Boojum creates experimental shows that blur the lines between concert and theatre.
The band features multi-instrumentalists Chris Mackin, Josh Santiago, Sarah Elaz, and Mike Coiro, with lyrics by Thomas Mackin, a poet and translator.
Boojum was formed in 2023 by members of the production company Loop Troupe to create Electric Wonderland, a psychedelic concert adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. The Electric Wonderland project features over 40 original songs and has been performed at venues such as Brooklyn Bowl, The Sultan Room, and Brooklyn Art Haus.
The members of Boojum also founded, manage and are regularly featured in Bushwick’s Dead, an NYC jam collective with an ongoing residency at Brooklyn Bowl.
In 2026, Boojum debuted RITUAL, an all-new EDM dance show rooted in myth and the occult.
What?
Is a funk sextet hailing out of the Hudson Valley of New York. Drawing influence from the serene landscape of the Catskills that inspired the likes of and , What? bridges the gap between R&B groove and improvisational jam. Compared to the likes of , , , and , What?’s eclectic taste in music lays the framework for a night that spans multiple genres. With a constantly growing following, What? is known to bring high energy, infectious melodies and soulful grooves with their power-house horn trio each time they grace the stage.

LaMP Live At The Ellis
Interstate jammers LaMP — featuring Vermont-based Russ Lawton (drums) and Ray Paczkowski (keys), alongside Brooklynite Scott Metzger (guitar) — distill singular, road-honed improv instincts into taut, instrumental epics.
While each of the players has extensive experience with other gigs — Lawton and Paczkowski with the Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) and Soule Monde, and Metzger through projects such as Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD) and Medeski, Martin, Metzger & Cline
(MMMC) — LaMP has hewed its own path.
The trio is currently touring behind their second studio collection, One Of Us, that packs 10 tracks into 35-minutes of kaleidoscopic interplay and club-shifting grooves. It’s the cleanest distillation of the LaMP sound yet, a mission statement of improvisational group-think and compositional chops.
Throughout its runtime, One Of Us acts as a showcase for the myriad of sonic flavors
LaMP brings to the table, delivering a listen which works both as deep headphone immersion or a packable-party custom-tailored to deliver the jams to upcoming 2025 tour hangs.

INFINITE FLOW Experience AME ARCANA’S newest adventure in the band’s legacy of explosive and cathartic musical experiences - INFINITE FLOW. Produced by local queer pop-rock band AME ARCANA, this evening will start with masterful live band burlesque to get your blood pumping and your emotions thumping. Led by the glamour rock scream queen herself, Ame Spins, Ame Arcana brings the full Live Band Burlesque experience to The Ellis at 8pm.
At 10pm, fade into the AFTERGLOW - where the ecstatic meets the erotic. Sonic musings by DJ FLARED BASE will have you grooving all night long, as live dancers on and off the pole spin spells that will leave you transfixed and transformed. Move with the feelings and dance the night away. This evening features legacy performers in the arts of burlesque, drag, and strip tease: Queerly Femmetastic, Ella Blu, Chestnut Belafonte, Nyx, Dahlia Blue, NosferTHOTu, and Bambi. Orange County Queer Collective will table with an interactive activity for those who need something fun and fidgety. The Zine Machine will be on site dispensing zines out of vintage vending machines that provide art and resources inspired by this one-night only event. Attendees can also purchase raffle tickets to win a variety of community-sourced prizes. As part of Ame Arcana and Afterglow’s passion for providing sustainable community resources, raffle profits will be donated to Chosen Family Law Center.
On Aug 8, The Ellis transforms into a haven for dreams and delights, sweat and sparkles. A place to sing, dance, cry, and scream. Infinite Flow is your portal into hedonistic healing and ritualistic rebellion through music and community. Join Salty's Comedy for The Church of Comedy, a night of stand-up comedy inside the beautifully restored Ellis in Newburgh. Once a church and now one of the Hudson Valley's most unique performance venues, The Ellis provides the perfect setting for an evening of hilarious confessions, questionable life choices, and punchlines worthy of redemption.
Headlining the evening is Josh Tinley, from "The Dojo Of Comedy" a rising force on the comedy scene known for his sharp writing, relatable storytelling, and energetic stage presence. Josh has been entertaining audiences throughout the Northeast and continues to leave crowds wanting more.

For one night, The Ellis becomes a space where post-punk, new wave, darkwave, disco, industrial, synth pop, and raw club energy all sit in the same room. Nothing polished into one direction. Just music that knows how to move people.
Headlining the evening is Lulu Lewis, bringing a sound that exists somewhere between beauty and tension. Post-punk at its spine, disco in its pulse, and a distinctly New York edge that makes every track feel cinematic without trying too hard. They don’t fit neatly into a category, and that’s exactly the point.
The night continues with Midna Mayhem, whose sets draw from the darker corners of alternative dance culture. Expect post-punk classics, industrial rhythms, darkwave grooves, goth anthems, and unexpected turns designed for crowded dance floors and late hours.
